Tembisa bodybuilders take to the stage
Tembisa bodybuilders show off their talents.
Tembisa bodybuilders took to the stage to perform isometric exercises in a competition held at Rabasotho Hall on May 6.
Chairperson of Tembisa Region Bodybuilding committee, Doctor Mafutha, said the event was organised by the Tembisa region in conjunction with Ekurhuleni Sports and Recreation Department.
“These competitions are held annually. We do this to encourage young bodybuilders to take part in these kinds of shows before they go to bigger events. Competitors were up to win trophies and medals and that also encouraged and motivated them to take part,” said Mafutha.
He said the Tembisa bodybuilding region and its committee members have taken it upon themselves to develop the sport in the township.
“We saw a need for this sport to be exposed in Tembisa and the competitions have been staged since 2013.”
The competition takes place not only in Tembisa but in other parts of Ekurhuleni as well.
Tembisa bodybuilders will represent the township in the next competition, which will be hosted in Springs.
Mafutha said the sport also takes the youth off the streets and away from drugs.
Mafutha said the event on Saturday was a success, especially with the support of Ekurhululeni Sports and Recreation.
Winners at the competition were as follows:

Junior U/18 years category winner – Karabo Ntsoane.
