Young champ wins the triple at tennis tournament

The tournament was of a high standard and well supported by players coming from all corners of South Africa

ARRON van Eck (9) was a triple winner of the recent Tennis South Africa Growthpoint Tennis Tournament at the Gauteng East Complex in Lakeside, Benoni.

This is one of the eight events that make up the Tennis South Africa Junior National Series.

Arron won not only the boys u-10 singles event, but also the doubles event in which he partnered Arjun Bajwa of Gauteng Central, as well as the mixed doubles event, which saw him partner Marizé van Rooyen of Limpopo.

Arron represented the Gauteng East provincial team and is a member of Modderfontein Tennis Club.

Gauteng East president Ken Smith said, “The tournament was of a high standard and well supported by players from all corners of South Africa, including Cape Town and George. Gauteng East is very proud of Arron for being a triple winner as this is a very difficult feat to achieve.

“Junior tournament tennis is thriving in South Africa, but our main goal is to get school and club tennis thriving as well.”
