Injury knocks kickboxer out of world championships

He was awarded bronze medals in each of these divisions

SERIOUS injury prevented a local kickboxer fighting for gold at the World Martial Arts Organisation (WMO) world championships in Dublin, Ireland.

Despite this setback, Jacques Dicks (47) from Xtreme Kickboxing Kempton Park still brought home three bronze medals from the championships, which took place from October 8 to 16.

Training under shihan Eddie Theron, Dicks achieved a bronze medal for points fighting at the world championships.

He worked himself up through the placements to the finals in light contact in two veteran groups. Unfortunately he sustained a serious injury in the preliminary bouts and was stopped by the tournament doctor from any further participation.

He was awarded bronze medals in each of these divisions.
