Avion wins high scoring match
Avion’s innings went to the last over before all the wickets fell.
TEMBISA put up an excellent run chase against Avion Park Cricket Club when the two clubs met in a chairman’s league game at the weekend.
However, it was just not enough and Avion won by 26 runs.
Tembisa won the toss and elected to bowl. Avion stood firm and scored 366, with the top scores coming from Courtney Bam 93, Anthony Harper 86 and Ryno Claassen 78.
Avion’s innings went to the last over before all the wickets fell.
Tembisa came out blazing, scoring 115 runs from the first nine overs. Avion pulled back the game with Harper getting 2/48 and Bjorn Bishoff 2/55.
Tembisa used all the overs to score 341, falling short by 26 runs.
The promotion side beat Etwatwa by 151 runs. Avion won the toss and elected to bat.
Micheal Meyer made 50, while Francoise Stoman made 47 and Marlo Blokland 42 to give the host a score of 247 all out in 44 overs.
Etwatwa only managed 96 before they were all out thanks to Wilhelm Bester taking 4/30 and Joseph Wilken 2/16.
Avion’s executive league side lost by three wickets against Bakerton.
Avion was bowled out for 151 with Rian Swanepoel making 51.
Bakerton scored 152/7 with Ingomar Kruger taking 3/42.
