Swart tops Riverpark Pigeon Club’s prizes
The club hosted its annual prize-giving on Saturday evening
BLACKIE Swart is both the old and young bird champion of Riverpark Pigeon Club for 2017.
The club held its prize-giving on Saturday and instead of the usual formal evening event, this prize-giving was an informal get-together of the members followed by a good old-fashioned braai.
The following members received medals for the 2017 young bird race results: Le Roux Lofts (Pieter le Roux) Theunissen 1; Reinhold Brichta Winburg 1; G&E Lofts (Graham Cheary & Elaine Russell) Winburg 3; Blackie Swart Bloemfontein 1, Dewetsdorp 1, Colesburg 1, Springfontein 1; Fred van Rensburg Bloemfontein 3; Hilton Pitout Reddersburg 1, Gariep Dam 1; Tallies Lofts (Johan Taljaard) Smithfield 1, Trompsburg 1 and Henry Mostert Hanover Derby.
Bakgat Lofts (Danalien Snyman) received the trophy for best novice for 2017 and Henry Johnstone a certificate of appreciation from the club.
The young bird single bird and young bird all bird champion for 2017 is Blackie Swart.
Le Roux Lofts is the short-distance champion and Hilton Pitout middle-distance champion in the single bird category respectively.
In the all bird category Blackie Swart is the short- and middle-distance champion. The best young bird short races is Blackie Swart’s Blue Bar hen GPU 2016 12506 and middle distance is Hilton Pitout’s Dark Check Hen GPU 2016 9266.
The best young bird for 2017 is Blackie Swart’s Blue Bar hen GPU 2016 12506.

Gawie Botha also received a trophy for only bird on the day for the Three Sisters race.
The old bird single bird and old bird all bird champion for short distance races is once again Blackie Swart. The middle distance single bird and all bird champ is Hilton Pitout and the long-distance single bird champ is Blackie Swart, with Doves Nest Guest House as the all bird long-distance champion.
The best old bird short races is Blackie Swart’s Blue Bar cock GPU 2014 1297, middle distance best old bird is Pine Pienaar’s Blue Bar cock GPU 2015 1831 and the best old bird long distance is Flip van Staden’s Blue Bar hen SOTV 2015 2850.
