In a repeat of the 2015 season, Modderfontein Squash Club (MSC) dominated the recent Central Gauteng Squash annual prize-giving at Wanderers Club.

The villagers bagged seven major awards, including the Callaghan Trophy for best club in the province.

In recognition of their achievement in promoting squash development, the title of Community Club of the Year went to Modderfontein for the second year in succession.

The flagship first team, comprising young players who came through the Egoli Squash development ranks, and their captain Dikana Mthombeni, one of the initiators of this development programme, received the loudest applause of the night when it was announced how they had annihilated their opposition in the reserve league.
