Smith shines for Avion with ball and bat

Rain interferes with the junior matches.

Avion Park Cricket Club beat Vosloorus by five wickets in an executive league match at the weekend.

Vosloorus scored 111 all out in 19 overs, with Zander Smith taking 4/13 in five overs.

Avion reached 112/5 in 19 overs with Smith scoring 40 runs.

The Colts started the second half of their league with a 78-run victory against KwaThema.

Avion was bowled out for 144 with JJ de Klerk top scoring with 36 runs.

KwaThema could only manage 66/10 with Zander Lindeque getting 3/14 in three overs.

Several of the junior games were cancelled due to rain. The results of the games played, were:

u-8 Carnival League: Avion 1 beat Kempton 1 by four runs. Avion 86/2. Kempton 82. Jay-Jay Blom 12*, Evan Mulligan 11*, Jean Meyer 1/5 and Robert Brown 0/3.

u-10 Sun League: Avion 2 lost by 112 runs against Kempton 2. Kempton 170/5 and Avion 58/6. Christopher Baartman 19* and 1/17, Jovann Williams 1/14 and Keanu Strydom 1/18.

The stars in the Kempton side were Troy Gordon (53*), Cole Stanbury (44), Aryaan Pillay 2/1 and Careem Swanepoel 1/6.
