Kempton prokart racers off to a great start in round 1
The next race is at Laserfiche Raceway on March 18.
Reigning Prokart SSS (Super Single Endurance Kart Series) champions, Kempton’s Noscotek, got off to a good start when they came out victorious in the first round of this year’s championship in Vereeniging on February 25.
The 2018 season consists of a series of nine endurance races for teams of up to six drivers, and caters for all ages from six years and up.
Noscotek entered two teams of three drivers, Laserfiche RIO and Laserfiche Avante, into the endurance class.

“We started our team a few years ago and it’s one of the best things we’ve done,” says Sheldon Halgreen, one of the directors at Noscotek. “The spirit in the office is incredible when it comes to race weekend. It’s a great way to build team spirit and camaraderie in the office.”
Heroes of motorsport today, like Fernando Alonso and Max Verstappen, still go back to karting to keep their skills and focus sharp, according to an article in autosport.com.

Our local VW Challenge 2017 Championship winner, Adrian Wood, agrees. “I started karting at the age of four and it’s been a life-changing experience for me. I’ve learned so much over the years and have now progressed to main circuit racing,” says Wood.
“I still come back to karting, and believe that participating in the Prokart series has helped improve my endurance fitness and even contributed to improving my driving style in main circuit racing. I would recommend Prokart SSS to anyone, from a total beginner to experienced racers. It’s a great series that brings family and friends together and promotes teamwork, which is so important.”

The 2018 Prokart season has over 90 drivers registered so far with a variety of skill levels and ages, from ex-professional drivers and even current main circuit drivers to beginners, all competing and learning from each other.
The use of Honda four-stroke motors for all classes keeps start-up and running costs down to an absolute minimum and makes the sport even more accessible.
