Three young riders from Kempton Park will compete in this year’s Nissan Easter Festival at Kyalami Equestrian Park from March 24 to April 2.

They are all trained by Nicola Sime Riley, a professional showjumper and level three international coach. She is also the owner of Sunny Park Stables in Benoni.

Hailey Strydom (14) from Shangri-La Academy will compete with Locarno Cosmopolitan in the junior 1.20m showjumping as well as Open Junior Equitation.

Chanel Jordaan (17), who is home schooled, will also compete in the 1.20m junior showjumping with her horse Capital Caruso.

Anushka Boshoff (12) of Laerskool Van Riebeeck Park will compete with her brand new pony Tiara in the 80cm pony showjumping.

In the weeks leading up to a big competition, the riders spend a lot of time at the yard preparing themselves and their horses for the best possible outcome.

“I always say that it is a good partnership on a good day when everything just comes together that results in a good round. The kids work really hard and show their commitment to the partnership and we can just hope that it will show during the festival,” Sime Riley said.

“I always just ask them to give their best and that is good enough for any coach. I love the excitement and entertainment that comes with the Nissan Easter Festival. We are so grateful to these big sponsors that help to develop our sport. It is an event that keeps the whole family entertained and in a sport that often keeps us away from our families, it is a bonus to enjoy spending the show with the ones you love,“ She added.
