Limpopo United FC and Madrid FC took to the field on Sunday afternoon in a knock-out game in the Winnie Mandela Zone 5 Top 16 soccer tournament.

The encounter was held at the Winnie Mandela Zone 6 sports grounds.

The Top 16 soccer game between Madrid FC and Limpopo United ended in a 3-2 win to Limpopo United.

In the first half, the first goal of the game was put into the back of the net by “Figo” Lamola of Madrid FC after he had received a well-timed pass from central midfield Sammy Mabotja in the 20th minute.

With Madrid in the lead, the game became more interesting and exciting to watch as football fans and die-hard supporters of the Winnie Mandela football games couldn’t wait to see which team was to win and qualify to play for the finals of the Top 16 tourney next weekend.

Limpopo United’s reliable striker, Given Morutlhanyane, managed to score a brace in the dying minutes of the first half.

At the break the score was 2-1.

In the second half, both teams came back well prepared and substitutions were made, but Booth Senosha of Madrid did not waste any time and managed to put in the nicest “bicycle” goal ever to be seen at the Winnie Mandela Zone 6 sports grounds, making the score to 2-2.

His goal left football supporters cheering and they couldn’t contain their happiness, nor stop talking about it.

Not long after Motshene Mokgabu of Limpopo United secured a third goal before the end of the game.
