Mosehla Easter Games kick off today – see you there

Sixteen soccer teams to compete for a R110 000 prize at MEG 2018 on March 30.

Mosehla Easter Games (MEG) has released their fixture for the Easter games that will kick off on March 30.

Club representatives came out in numbers to participate in an open process of deciding the fixture at Slotjhile restaurant on March 17.

MEG co-ordinator Nomadlozi Mashiloane said MEG 2018 is the sixth edition of this popular soccer tournament in Tembisa.

“MEG has grown greatly. We have new teams joining us this year.

“We are welcoming Mafikizolo FC, Ndengeza FC, Zone 14 FC, Ambassadors FC and Ama-Blessers FC.

“MEG is now recognised by teams outside of Gauteng,” said Nomadlozi.

MEG committee member Mampa Tlhwaele said this year the tournament has introduced a lot of changes as it has introduced a female soccer division that will see female soccer clubs compete in the Adelaide Challenge. Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies FC will be defending a title against Tshwane University of Technology FC during this challenge.

Tlhwaele said the MEG has also revealed a new trophy and increased prize money from R100 000 to R110 000.

“We are also giving Tembisa soccer legend Teboho ‘Bizza Matamati’ Mathebula a platform for his football clinics to select an 18-player squad that will participate in an opening match,” said Tlhwaele.

She added that the newly revealed trophy will be changed when and if no team has won it for three consecutive years.

“We are going to keep the old trophy in memory of MEG.”
