Kgaba FC rules the dusty soccer field at Phomolong Sport Centre

“This game was very tough because my players were not using their chances,” said coach.

Four teams locked horns over the weekend to prove skill on dusty soccer fields at the Phomolong Sport Centre.

Kgaba FC proved to be a force to be reckoned with in township football on Sunday, June 24.

Kgaba FC coach Charles Moanaka said the game was very easy at the beginning as the boys were dominating the game against Peter Zongwane FC.

“The first goal was scored by Kgaugelo and we led 1-0.

“The second goal was scored by Kgaugelo again. I would say he was the man of the match.

“We were leading 2-0 when Kgaugelo got an injury and I had to replace him with Karabeo,” said Charles.

He said when Kgaugelo left the pitch the game started to be rather tough.

“After half-time we had to contain the pressure and we managed to defend our two goals.

“We had no substitution and when the final whistle blew our opponents hadn’t scored any goals,” Charles said.

At the end of the game, the score was 2-0 in favour of Kgaba FC.

In their final and last game, Kgaba FC was tipped against Maplankeni FC.

“This game was very tough because my players were not using their chances.

“When the game progressed the boys had to improve their performance.

“We noticed our weakness and fixed our mistakes. We were lacking in the middle.

“We had to change our pattern and I moved Kgaugelo from the winger to position number six in the middle of the field.

“The strategy worked to our advantage and we scored our first goal by Kgaugelo and we led 1-0.

“At the end of the first half we were leading 1-0,” Charles said.

In the second half, we had to take out Thabo and put in Robbie and the boy changed the game.

“Robbie scored two goals and as a result, we became champions of the game,” Charles told the Tembisan.

At end of the tournament, the score was 3-0 in favour of Kgaba FC.
