Kyle top scores at senior swimming championships
He scored points in nine finals, winning three gold, one silver and seven bronze medals.
At the beginning of August, a small team of six Aquatic/ESP Piranha swimmers took part in the Eastern Gauteng Senior Championships.
Kyle Mckenzie scored 149 points, scoring points in nine finals, winning three gold, one silver and seven bronze medals.
Clayton Malaza qualified in nine finals, adding 108 points to the ESP Piranha’s score.
Clayton won one silver and one bronze medal.
In the breaststroke events, Kyle and Clayton made the academy very proud, scoring a gold and silver in the 100m event, and a gold and bronze in the 50m event.
Bernelee Doster, who celebrated her 14th birthday on the first day of this competition, succeed in winning two gold medals in the 14/15 age group.
Bernelee was awarded the academy top “Time Smasher” trophy, swimming a further five best times, after having lowered eight times the previous week at the Eastern Gauteng Junior Championships, where she won the award for the top point scorer of the Eastern Junior Championships.
Competing at the senior event, Bernelee scored 91 points, qualifying in this highly competitive age group for six finals.
Oyama Malaza, Kerrin Burgess and Christina Pon also competed, receiving teamwork and excellence certificates from the academy.
