Swart is Riverpark club champion

The last two races of the season took place on September 29

Gauteng Pigeon Union’s (GPU) last two races of the season on September 29 were from Three Sisters and Beaufort West.

Riverpark Pigeon Club had 13 members flying 116 birds from Three Sisters, which is an average distance of 812km.

Sky Lofts (Corrie Moller) won this race by a margin of 39:43 from G&E Lofts (Graham Cheary and Elaine Russell).

The rest of the results were:

Sky Lofts (Corrie Moller) 1st, 24th, 27th; G&E Lofts (Graham Cheary & Elaine Russell) 2nd, 3rd, 11th, 12th; Doves Nest B Team (Gawie Botha) 4th, 15th, 16th, 18th, 21st, 28th; Blackie Swart 5th, 19th, 29th; Doves Nest Guest House (Gawie Botha) 6th, 7th, 8th; Pine Pienaar 9th, 13th, 23rd, 30th; Pieter van den Broeck 10th, 22nd; Bakgat Lofts (Danalien Snyman) 14th, 26th; Flip van Staden 17th; Le Roux Lofts (Pieter le Roux) 20th and Albert Neilson 25th.

The race from Beaufort West, which is an average distance of 878km for club members, saw the winning pigeon from G&E Lofts (Graham Cheary and Elaine Russell) having a nett flying time of 12:56:15.

G&E Lofts had a winning margin of 40:35 from Le Roux Lofts (Pieter le Roux) in second place.

Being the last race of the season also meant it was time to get the results for the long-distance champions and club champion. The all bird (all birds clocked in the top 30 positions) long distance champion is Doves Nest B Team (Gawie Botha), with Blackie Swart second and G&E Lofts (Graham Cheary and Elaine Russell) third.

The all bird overall champion (short, middle and long races) is Doves Nest B Team with Blackie Swart second and G&E Lofts third.

The single bird (first bird points to count) long distance champion is Blackie Swart, with G&E Lofts second and Doves Nest Guest House third.

The single bird overall champion, which also determines who the club champion is, is Blackie Swart, with Doves Nest B Team second and G&E Lofts third.
