Gogev smashes club record for Kempton Cricket Club

Opening batsman Milen Gogev broke all records at Kempton Park Cricket Club as the directors team smashed Elsburg by 280 runs at Barnard Stadium.

Batting first, Kempton amassed a massive 411/1 in their 50 overs.

Gogev smashed a club record of 249*, his second century of the season.

He shared in a partnership of 360 runs with Nico Pieters (116*).

The home side then dismissed the visitors for 160 runs in 32 overs. Adrian Griesel took 3/16 and Keigan Martins 3/45.

The club’s premier XI had a weekend away from their normal league commitments as they travelled to Secunda to take on Secunda Cricket club in the Multiply T20 community cup franchise playoffs’ semi-finals.

Kempton batted first and after being in a bit of trouble at 30/4, they recovered nicely and posted a reasonably decent total of 151/8 in their 20 overs. Top scorer for KPCC was new signing Bryce Parson (57).

Kempton then bowled Secunda out for 86 in 17 overs, Off-spinner Wesley Marshall was the pick of the bowlers taking 3/6.

Kempton will now face CBC Pretoria in the final for a place at the T20 Community Cup Club Champs in December.

The premier reserve XI made it four wins from four games as they beat Alberton by 160 runs away from home.

Kempton batted first and piled on the runs in very seamer-friendly conditions, posting 294/8 in their allotted 50 overs.

Lee Coetzee (110) held the innings together with a very patient century and was very well supported by 17-year-old Nathan Grobler (67) and Maxwell Meyer (59).

Kempton then bowled Alberton out for 135 in 37 overs. Left arm spinner Saleem Manuel was the pick of the bowlers taking 3/38 in his 10 overs.

Kempton will face arch rivals Benoni Northerns at home on Sunday.
