Tembisa Golf Club’s Mazibuko is in top form

The stage was set for Makume and Matojane to learn from the marvels of Mazibuko.

Tembisa Golf Club’s Makhetha Mazibuko won the individual medal competition the club hosted at ERPM on September 1. ERPM was set alight as Mazibuko, Lebo Makume and George Matojane teed off just before 1pm.

Matojane is a high handicap golfer, playing from an 18, while Makume is a raw talented youngster. Mazibuko is a polished and seasoned Sunshine Tour professional golfer.

The stage was set for Makume and Matojane to learn from the marvels of Mazibuko, who wasted no time in banging big drives down the middle of fairways, shooting 37 and 33 over the 18 holes.

There were glimpses of brilliant ball striking from Makume but also a great deal of rawness, overawed by the fact of playing alongside Mazibuko. Although Makume made some progress after having messed up on the first two holes, it was clear in the end that he needed such a platform to gain the necessary experience moving forward.

Matojane started like a house on fire, only to be humbled four holes down the stretch as soon as he thought he was in control of things. He learned never to be content and at no point should you ever think you are on top, as it only takes one bad shot to change your fortunes.

Tembisa Golf Club plans to host more such events.

Although Mazibuko destroyed all and sundry on the day, Tembisa Golf Club always welcomes the presence of golf professionals. The club prides itself in having in its midst the likes of Thabang Simon, Musa Nemuthunzi and Mazibuko. They are very capable and good Sunshine Tour golf professionals who have held their own against formidable pros like Charl Scwartzel, Branden Grace and other notable SA golfing stars.
