Locals come out in numbers to enjoy Muay Thai action

The audience witnessed how fighters displayed prowess and skill as they made their way into the ring.

Aston Manor Shopping Centre was abuzz with Muay Thai action on Saturday.

With nine fights on the fight card, fans were treated to action-packed rounds of Muay Thai, also referred to as Thai boxing, during the MTFC-2 Fight Day.

Thai boxing fighters make use of fists, elbows, knees and shins.

The event was held at Cyber Saloon located at the local shopping centre.

Organised by Cyber Saloon and Muaythai Fitness Centre (MTFC), the fight day was aimed at unity and Muay Thai exhibitions.

“We wanted to organise something fun and interesting for each member of the family and one that would unite the community,” said Raynier Knoetze, one of the organisers.

“We wanted to bring some much-needed exposure to the saloon and the centre. We wanted to help uplift the entire shopping centre.”

Some of the fighters also showed off some of their fighting styles giving spectators a bit of a preview of what to expect during the fight. This was done during the ritual ceremony each fighter performed before each bout.

Thai boxing action was witnessed at the MTFC-2 Fight Day event held at the Cyber Saloon at Aston Manor Shopping Centre on Saturday.

The ritual was well received and honoured by the audience who were in awe as some learnt more about Thai boxing. All the fighters are members of MTFC.

Knoetze said they are looking to host another event next year.
