Jeugland athletes victorious again
From the start, three schools would fight it out to the end to take the trophy home.
With the athletics season drawing to a close, the Jeugland athletes had one goal in mind- win the 2023 Inter High.

The athletes were well-prepared, and everyone knew what was expected of them.
From the start, three schools would fight it out to the end to take the trophy home.
Hoërskool Ben Voster from Tzaneen, the host school of the event, and Hoërskool Eldoraigne from Pretoria chased Jeugland for that top position.
With the day almost over, it was clear the relays would play a vital role in the outcome.
The Jeugland athletes stuck to their guns and stayed ahead of Hoërskool Ben Voster until the end.
They were then crowned the winner of the Inter High competition.

As a result, Jeugland will move up a pool next year.
Two of Jeugland’s athletes stood out and they received the top honour at the prize-giving.
Matthew Howard received the award for the best senior track athlete of the day.
Junior Tukuta was crowned the best senior field athlete and also took the senior Victor Ludorum award.
The Jeugland athletes earned 67 medals – 23 gold, 22 silver and 22 bronze.
T Magoro, R Ramarumo, B Amadi, K Mngqibisa and O Nondabula each received a gold medal in the 100m, while B Amadi and Nondabula walked away with gold in the 200m.

In the 800m events, J Mphela and M Strydom were rewarded with gold medals. M Pelo and Strydom took gold in the 1 500m.
M Howard shone in the 3 000m and returned home with a gold medal.
Gold medals in the short hurdles were awarded to C Pryor and K Ramohlola, while A Muller took the top honours in the long hurdles event.
The high jump gold medals went to V Asumah, Tukuta and J Ndungi. Tukuta walked away with gold in the long jump, and G Basila took gold in the triple jump.
F Nwankwo walked away with gold in the shot put.
The relay U16 boy’s and U17 girl’s teams won their events and earned gold.
Silver medals in the running events went to C Ogidi, Magoro, Nwankwo, K Mngqibisa, Mphela, H Otto, V Asumah, R Strauss and the U14 boy’s, U15 boy’s and U16 girl’s relay teams.

Nondabula, C Pryor, Basila, T Ngomane and T Joseph received silver medals in their respective hurdles events.
Field event silver medals went to A Monyekgope, A Jooste and B Galloway.
Jeugland’s bronze medal winners were Ramohlola, P Dishasi, M Masango, J Jooste, Pelo, P Ngobeni, T Makitla, Mphela, E Muller, L van Coller, T Mphela, A Monyekgope, M Polo, C Pryor, G Morgan, I Vilakazi, D du Plessis, Galloway, C van Zyl and the U19 girl’s relay team.
