Rams narrowly miss out on cup glory

Red Sox Rams opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two singles.

Kempton Park’s Red Sox Rams narrowly missed out on winning the Senior Reserve Cup on Sunday.

The local team faced off against league winners, Mets Masters, in the finals held at the Boksburg Cardinals grounds.

Mets Masters scored seven runs in the first inning, which helped them defeat Red Sox Rams 10-3 on the day.

The team first got on the board when Chris Stone singled, scoring one run.

Jason Tucker was the first batsman up for the Red Sox Rams.

Mets Masters flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring seven runs from six hits to take a 7-2 lead.

The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Martin Coetzee on the seventh pitch which brought in two runs.
Mets Masters added one run in the second after Nicholas Lourens stole home.

A hit by a pitch extended the Mets Masters lead to 9-2 in the bottom of the third inning.

Stone opened the game for Red Sox Rams.

The Rams gave up 13 hits and 10 runs over five and one-third innings, striking out six and walking two.

Ashley Yon led things off on the hill for Mets Masters.

The starting pitcher surrendered 12 hits and three runs over six innings, striking out four and walking none.
Red Sox Rams piled up 12 hits in the game.

Jason Tucker, Stone, and Anthony “Scrubba” Halvorsen each collected two hits for Red Sox Rams.

Stone drove the middle of the lineup, leading Red Sox Rams with two runs batted in.

Tucker and Halvorsen each stole multiple bases for the Rams.

Mets Masters accumulated 13 hits in the game.
