Avion Cricket Club enjoys big victory

Alberton replied with 33 all out in 12 overs for an 87-run victory for Avion.

Avion Cricket Club played in several matches over the weekend.

First up was the Avion U8 Impala side who took on Benoni Northerns.

Avion won the toss and decided to bowl first.

Benoni made 93/9 in 20 overs and Avion replied with 96/1 in 15.2 overs to win the match by nine wickets.

Luwan Mulder was the side’s best batsman with 40 not out from 50 balls.

Rozelle Bezuidenhout was named bowler of the match with 3/8 in two overs.

Avion’s U8 Kingham side faced Alberton at Kruin A.

Avion batted first, scoring 120/2 in 20 overs. Alberton replied with 33 all out in 12 overs for an 87-run victory for Avion.

Next up was the Avion U8 Sibali side who played Old Bens.

Avion made 54/7 in 20 overs, with Old Bens replying with 55/2 in 9.2 overs.

Old Bens won the match by eight wickets

In the U10 game, Avion went head-to-head against Alberton at Kruin B.

Avion batted first, scoring 173/3 after 25 overs. Alberton in reply was bowled out for 147 in 24 overs.

The top Avion batsmen were Corneil Hefer (42), JD Botes (51 not out) and Jodey Coertse (53 not out).

Stephen Hardojin was named best bowler with 2/7 in three overs.

Avion’s U10 Kingham took on Etwatwa, winning the toss and electing to bat first. Avion scored 197/4 in 25 overs.

Etwatwa replied with 76/9 in 25 overs to hand Avion a 121-run victory.
