Local karateka makes her mark at nationals
Megane won a silver medal in the kata division and bronze in kumite in her age category.

Karateka Megane Potgieter from The Dojo – Kempton Park recently competed at the annual New World Shotokan Karate National Championships in Cape Town.
Megane won a silver medal in the kata division and bronze in kumite in her age category.
According to sensei Janien Potgieter, Megane participated in four other kumite divisions with older girls of higher grades.

“In total Megane won three silver and three bronze medals. As this was our annual event we had participants from White River, Boksburg, Benoni, Kempton Park, Vereeniging, Upington, Caledon, Paarl, Cape Town and Parow.”
“Megane is happy with her results as this was her first national event. I am super proud of her, she showed courage,” said Janien.

Megane loves her karate and keeps on striving to do better every time.
Megane is now preparing for her blue belt grading in June and the next championships in August
