Kempton-born Olympian Akani Simbine to feature in relay finals

The men's 4x100m relay team secured their spot in the final which will take place tomorrow night, August 9 at 19:47.

This morning, Kempton-born Akani Simbine and the South African 4x100m relay team secured their spot in the men’s relay final, which will take place tomorrow night, August 9.

The team’s medal hopes were kept alive by clocking the second-fastest time in the men’s first-round heats.

Akani was supported by his teammates Shaun Maswanganyi, Bayanda Walaza and Bradley Nkoana, finished the race in 37.94 seconds.

The South African team was only beat by United States who finished in a time of 37.47.

The race is set to take place at 19:47 on August 9.
