Miway Warriors shine at 2024 sporting events
“If we can get financial support, the team can manage their expenses easier and focus on competing at the highest level."
The Miway Warriors athletics team had a remarkable 2024, securing nine medals and showcasing their talent and teamwork at various sporting events.
“The team’s outstanding performance demonstrates their depth, talent, and teamwork,” said MiWay Warriors chairperson Mariet Geyer.
The team’s achievements spanned multiple competitions, including the CGA Age Group Championships, in which one athlete claimed a bronze medal, showcasing their competitiveness and skill

The team also participated in the CGA Cross Country Championships, where one athlete achieved gold, demonstrating endurance, strategy, and determination.
Geyer highlighted the team’s success at the Ekurhuleni Soncini Championships, where four athletes represented Central Gauteng Athletics (CGA) at the national ASA Age Group Championships.
Additionally, another athlete represented CGA at the national ASA Cross Country Championships, cementing the team’s reputation for excellence.

Eleven MiWay Warriors athletes were selected to represent Team Ekurhuleni at the OR Tambo Soncini Social Cohesion Games, hosted at UJ Athletics Stadium in Auckland Park.
The team captain, Tshimollo Mampheko, expressed gratitude for the guidance and support the team received from CGA.
However, he emphasised the need for sponsorships and donations to address the team’s financial challenges.
“We need shoes, kit, food, and beverages, as well as separate accounts for these expenses,” said Mampheko.
“With financial support, the team can manage expenses effectively and focus on competing at the highest level,” he added.
The MiWay Warriors are gearing up for upcoming events, including the provincial championships at CGA and the nationals in Cape Town, hoping to build on their success in 2024.
“The achievements of this year are a testament to the team’s dedication and passion. With the right support, there is no limit to what the MiWay Warriors can achieve,” said Geyer.
