National Chicks donates soccer kits to Thembisa’s Makhulong FC youth teams
Makhulong FC junior players now have proper kits thanks to National Chicks’ Youth Day donation, which aims to boost team morale and performance while strengthening community support.
National Chicks has been a strong presence in Thembisa, creating jobs for residents and supporting community organisations in need.
On June 16, the company visited the Makhulong FC in Thembisa to donate soccer kits to the U11, U12, U13, and U15 teams, along with beanies to help players stay warm during training and matches.
The Makhulong FC has faced major challenges, with all teams having to share a single soccer jersey, which affected their performance on the field.
As members of the Thembisa United Football Association (Tufa), National Chicks recognised the team’s need and stepped in to ease the burden.

The donation aims to help the Makhulong FC maintain its strong tournament performance despite earlier kit shortages.
Club secretary Violet Chirwa expressed gratitude for the support.
“Today, we’re hosting friendlies to celebrate the generous donations from National Chicks. This event reflects the journey we’ve taken together as a family. Last year, we had only one kit for the U11s. As the U13 and U15 teams grew, sharing that kit became a serious challenge.
“We’re truly humbled by these donations. Each team now has its own set of kits, which will greatly improve our performance going forward.”
Debbie Nortjie from National Chicks highlighted the company’s commitment to the community, “Our partnership with Thembisa residents and organisations inspires us to keep giving and actively support youth development.
“We have worked closely with the community, collaborating on several projects with Mr Mnisi. Today, we are proud to donate these goods to such promising teams.

“It’s wonderful to see parents involved, and the community’s care in maintaining the sports field bodes well for future growth.”
The community warmly received the donation, grateful to see their children playing football comfortably in their own kits instead of borrowing from teammates.
To celebrate the donation and Youth Day, the Makhulong FC hosted mini-friendlies with neighbouring teams.
Looking ahead, National Chicks plans to set up a workshop at Makhulong where residents can learn poultry farming skills to start businesses.
