Residents protest against poor service delivery, crime

Disgruntled residents have barricaded roads in protest of poor service delivery and an increase in crime in the area.

Disgruntled residents from Ehlazeni and Vusimuzi have barricaded roads in the area in protest of poor service delivery and the high crime rate in the area.

Residents said they are concerned about an increase in crime in the area and a lack of electricity.

The roads affected are Nakuru Street between Zniko and the BP garage on Andrew Mapheto Drive.

EMPD spokesperson Marie Mashishi confirmed that over 300 residents were gathered at the protest.

“Members of the community have been addressed regarding the electricity supply to the area and are currently waiting for SAPS officials to arrive.”

She added that Nakuru street remains blocked, but the situation is calm.
