A Birchleigh North resident, Kenyon MacMurray (35), stars in a new stage production, Heroes and Friends: The Sort-of Real Adventures of Robin Hood.
MacMurray, who lives on his own, is a trainer for Discovery Health but his real passion lies in alternative dispute resolution. Specifically around divorce, post divorce and family mediation.
“I love football and I’m a true Manchester City Supporter. My blood is blue CTID (City Till I Die),” he said.
He used to umpire cricket and would one day like to get back into it.
“I play Friar Tuck in the pantomime and we definitely share a love of good whisky. I get to play a lovable character. The opportunity to work with such an array of talent is truly inspiring. The acting skills and voices of the entire cast are really inspiring.”
He says his love for theatre began before he was born as his parents met at the old Choral Soc at Wits. “I truly caught the bug when I had a small part in Little Shop of Horrors in high school. Without community theatre there would be a vast chasm in my soul.”
This delightful pantomime is a hilarious comic romp through Sherwood Forest like you have never seen it before. It will be staged at the Franklin Players Theatre in Roosevelt Park in Johannesburg.
Evening performances will be on November 22, 23, 29 and 30 at 7.30pm. Sunday performances will take place on November 24 and December 1 at 6pm.
