Orphan hangs himself after being turned away by school

Boy commits suicide after attempts to get school admission fails.

A grade 9 pupil allegedly hanged himself out of frustration which was the result of failed attempts to get admission to Ukusasa Secondary School in Tembisa.

The 18-year-old, who was an orphan, went to the school on Tuesday but was told to return to the school with a parent.

The boy’s older brother accompanied him to the school this morning.

“When we arrived at the school, we were told that my brother’s teacher was not there and that he must come back the following day. It was very frustrating.

“When we got home he said he was going to take a nap. I went an hour later to check on him and discovered that he had hanged himself,” said the boy’s brother.
