30 artists, 30 points of view
The exhibition will showcase works by 30 Ekurhuleni artists
THE Springs Art Gallery is abuzz with activity this week as the City of Ekurhuleni prepares for the grand opening of the 30 30 Contemporary Group Art Exhibition on Saturday at 3pm.
The show highlights the works of 30 emerging, mid-career and established artists who embody the diversity of the city – varying in age, gender, social background, medium and level of recognition.
“30 30 challenges the artists to reach beyond the boundaries of geography, ethnicity, tradition, media or any other perceived limitations through art, as they continually expand their personal and artistic vision and horizons. The exhibition also aims to raise public awareness of Ekurhuleni based visual artists by providing opportunities to meet them and view their work at a location within the city,” said exhibition co-ordinator, Thabo Sekoila.
