Annual Rand Easter Show is back

The show, which is SA's biggest consumer exhibition, will run for 11 days

IT’S that time of year again when the Rand Easter Show is back in town to give people yet another mind-blowing experience.

With over R5-million spent on only the best entertainment at 2014’s edition of the Rand Show, which runs from April 18 to 28, this year is sure to be an amazing experience for audiences.

The out-of-this-world line up, which includes magicians, gymnasts, animal trainers, funfair-rides and performances from SA’s top musicians, will definitely be an unforgettable time for the 200 000 people predicted to attend the show.

The Rand Show is South Africa’s biggest consumer show and the largest consumer launch pad in the country. Held annually over the Easter holidays, the show is firmly targeted at families, promising a great day out with top-class entertainment.

The exciting line-up includes stunt-car drivers flying in from Italy, “the world’s most recognisable science geek”, the Naked Science, who will be flying in from London. He is known for his almost super-human ability to answer practically any question thrown at him.

The kids can also enjoy the six-metre snow ramp with snow trucked up straight from Cape Town, where they can enjoy snow fun from sliding down with snow boards, as well as a synthetic ice-rink for the avid skaters.

The South African National Defence Force wil be there to wow the crowds with its tactical displays. The SA Army is bringing a fleet of military vehicles: climb aboard a Ratel ZT3, a MAN tank transporter with Olifant MK2 tank, a Gecko, a Badger infantry combat vehicle and a Rooikat MK ID armoured car.

Over show weekends, some of South Africa’s top performers and bands will entertain visitors. Artists such as the popular Loyiso Bala of TKZee and Bala Brothers fame, Nathan Ro of neon-rock band Lonehill Estate, and Graeme Watkins from indie rock outfit, The Graeme Watkins Project, will be rocking the stage.

Gates will be open every day at 9am and the show will end at 6pm daily. Tickets cost R100 adults, R50 pensioners over 65, R50 teenagers aged 13-16, R20 kids aged 6-12 and free for children under 6.

Tickets can be bought at the gate or through Computicket.
