A newly-formed Ivory Park Taxi Association (IPTA) FC trained hard on Thursday last week, preparing for their first game against Ivory Park SAPS FC.

The match will be held on Sunday.

According to the IPTA FC coach, Bongani Khumalo, they formed the team to bring taxi owners in the Ivory Park Taxi Association closer.

“We are also aiming to keep fit and socialise with other soccer players. We believe this will be a good motivation to other taxi associations to participate in sports, and not only focus on business. We are living in a generation where we are faced with so many chronic diseases and exercising is the only key to fight them,” he said.

Coach Khumalo added that there is no better exercising than walking and running.

“People can join gyms but it all start with walking and running to keep fit,” he added.

Most of the players at IPTA FC are former football players.

It was not hard for the former footballers to rekindle their skills on the field.

“We intend to win our first game against the Ivory Park SAPS FC and teach them a free soccer lesson,” said Khumalo.
