New sponsorship for TUFA

New sponsorship for TUFA

By Victor Mukwevho Ne-vumbani

The Tembisa United Football Association (Tufa) received a lucrative sponsorship from Hatfield VW at a well-attended function held at Makhulong Stadium on Saturday last week.

The chairman of the successful and much talked-about local association, Mr Sinky “Twalaza” Mnisi, said he had sleepless nights after their contract with the previous sponsors ended last year.

“But I knew deep down in my heart that we will get a sponsorship. To be honest, it was not simple, but at last, I managed to convince the owner of Hatfield Pretoria VW, Mr Brad Kaftel, to help us, and the rest, as they say, is history,” he said.

When addressing teams and members of the South African Football Association (SAFA), Mr Kaftel, said he is proud to be associated with an association like Tufa.

“At Hatfield Pretoria, we took a leaf from Nelson Mandela, who in 1995, showed the whole world that sport can unite people. He encouraged all South Africans, black and white, to support the Springboks in the Word Cup, and we won it as a nation.

“For the very first time in our history, blacks and whites celebrated the victory in unison. We also want all Tembisans to be united through sports. We are therefore encouraging Tufa to concentrate on development and participating in building a healthy nation,” he said.

Meanwhile, the president of SAFA in Ekurhuleni, Mr Louis Tshakoane thanked Mr Kaftel for sponsoring the local association.

“I am also appealing to the association to work hard in developing and unearthing talent in Tembisa. We would also like to wish Hatfield VW good luck. It is important that Tembisans support them too so that they can continue sponsoring local sporting codes,” he said.
