Ekurhuleni Carnival dazzles the masses

The streets of Tsakane came to life as the carnival troupes paraded

Rhythm and colour livened up the streets of Tsakane and Kwa-Thema on Saturday when carnival troupes from across the City of Ekurhuleni participated in the 10th annual Ekurhuleni Carnival.

“The carnival kicked off at Langaville Secondary School in Tsakane and ended on a high note at Bulithando Park in Kwa-Thema,” said metro spokesman, Themba Gadebe.

Onlookers took pictures, clapped hands and danced along to the routines rendered by the over thousand strong carnival procession.

Gadebe said the main objective of the carnival was to support entrepreneurs in the art industry.

“The reason why the City of Ekurhuleni continues to support the carnival is solely because we view it as an investment to what could be someone’s career tomorrow,” added Member of the Mayoral Committee for Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Clr Zeni Tshongweni.

The event culminated with various artists of different genres taking turns on stage, entertaining the audience with song and dance.
