Charity open-mic session a success
Bags and bags of clothing, food and toiletries had been collected
67 Ribbons and Food for Soul Sunday’s recent event at the Two Oceans Bar and Restaurant in Van Riebeeck Park was a great success.
Food for Soul Sunday open mic sessions is a community outreach project run by seven young women who aim to change the world through one random act at a time.
At the event, several upcoming artists from around the East Rand performed and no entry fee was charged. Instead, admission into the event is any non-perishable foods, clothing or toiletries.
Van Riebeeck Park resident and founder of the organisation and event, Angela Mthembu, said it had gone very well.
“We managed to collected bags and bags of clothes as well as a lot of food and toiletries which will help Save the Seed. The performances were phenomenal and the crowd kept growing,” she said excitedly.
The event will take place every last Sunday of the month. The next food for soul will be on March 29.
