Late night jazz music in Tembisa

The Moses Taiwa Molelekwa Arts Foundation is bringing a night of jazz honours to Tembisa, with an acoustic night taking place at the Moses Molelekwa Arts Centre on Friday.

The acoustic night will feature performances from the Gauteng Music Academy’s Mr Johnny Mekoa and musicians such as Pops Mohamed, Lesego Nkonyane, Fourfourty and the Taiwa Jazz Band.

The Moses Taiwa Molelekwa Arts Foundation is proud to bring the acoustic night event to Tembisa for the very first time.

The event will also be part of commemorating the late, legendary Moses Molelekwa’s birthday.

Moses was a highly skilled pianist who performed with the likes of Miriam Makeba, Jonas Gwangwa and Hugh Masekela.

It is a free entry event that will commence at 4pm.

“Jazz is music that has a lot of spontaneous elements and improvisations in it, but even with that, you cannot take away the fact that jazz is an art,” said Mr Jerry ‘Monk’ Molelekwa, father of the late Mr Moses Molelekwa.
