Ekurhuleni set to jazz up the week

The partnership between the metro and the Music Craft Art is set to revive the genre of jazz in the city

GET ready for some serious groovy times as the metro is set to jazz it up this week.

Jazz is a beautifully diverse genre and like almost all forms of music, it bridges the gap between rich and poor, race and religion.

Hence the City of Ekurhuleni, in partnership with Music Craft Art, presents the most eclectic mix of local and international jazz music set to mesmerize enthusiasts this Festive Season with the Music Xchange on December 19 at Carnival City in Brakpan.

At the Music Xchange, Najponk Trio will perform together with South African artists such as Feya Faku, Andile Yenana, Sydney Mnisi, African Jazz Masters and the Four Forty Jazz band.

The partnership between the metro and the Music Craft Art is set to revive the genre of jazz in the city, through the development of a local and international exchange programme.

“In an effort to elevate the arts and culture industry within Ekurhuleni, we will exhaust every avenue to see the industry flourish for the purpose of developing our artists until they are recognized internationally,” said Ekurhuleni spokesperson Themba Gadebe.

Tickets to the Music Xchange event are currently on sale at Computicket with prices ranging from R280 to R650 for VIPs. A discount of 10% is available for students and a 15% group discount when booking more than 10 tickets for the concert.

The Music Xchange concert will take place this Saturday at Carnival City, Brakpan, from 7pm.
