‘Singing chef’ at morning tea at Allen Park

Tickets cost R80 and bookings can be made at Allen Park reception

KEVIN Leo will be the guest at a morning tea at Allen Park Retirement Centre, at 10am on April 2.

Leo was born in Rustenburg in 1971 and, from a very young age, it was very clear he was born for the stage. He grew into one of South Africa’s most versatile and loved entertainers, both in the music and acting arenas.

During his military service he was chosen, through national auditions, as one of only four singers in the David Group, a Christian gospel ensemble of the South African Defence Force. He toured the whole country for the duration of his service, performing in excess of 120 shows a year.

During his tertiary theology studies at the University of Pretoria, he took part in numerous singing competitions with great success and started his own music ministry group, performing nationally.

In 1994 he took part in the Crescendo competition and was a finalist in the men’s vocal category. In 2006 he aimed his tenor voice at Europe, when he competed in Valsesia Musica, the International Opera Competition of Italy, near Milan, and won the fourth prize.

At the winners’ concert the president of the competition introduced him to the Italian audience as “Pavarotti e Pocco” or “Little Pavarotti”.

Tickets cost R80 and bookings can be made at Allen Park reception, or call Sarie Scheepers on 011-972-4220/9.
