How to election proof your business in 2019

Implementing these strategies can even help transform your business and increase profits.

Economic growth is expected to be less than 1.7 per cent this year.

Rising electricity costs, labour demands and political uncertainty are all contributing factors.

However, with it being an election year, it is the political environment that is expected to play a major role in how businesses perform.

According to business coach Bert Weenink from Kempton Park, there are ways you can “election proof” your business in order to limit the effect of the elections. In fact, implementing these strategies can even help transform your business and increase profits.

“Uncertainty is often an unlikely and unexpected breeding ground for opportunity,” explains Bert. “Adopting a positive attitude, streamlining processes and persevering can help differentiate you from your competitors, particularly in a difficult market.”

Many business owners will think spending money on anything right now is dangerous – even careless. This line of thinking is counterproductive – having a carefully planned proactive approach is one of the best possible strategies to take when the economy is under pressure.

Weenink has coached more than 100 businesses – mostly small and medium-sized enterprises – turning them around from struggling entities into successful profitable organisations. He has expert knowledge of manufacturing, agro-processing, supply chain operations, sales and marketing, human resources, risk management, strategic planning, change management and project management.

Weenink will host a workshop titled How to Election Proof your Business in 2019 and how to develop a money-making mindset. It will take place at Lago Puccini on Atlas Road from 8am to noon.

The workshop costs R195 a person and tickets are available online from Quicket, by sending an email to actioncoach@bertweenink.com or by calling ActionCOACH Inspire on 011 972 6713.
