Ivory Park’s DJ Elektrique Afrique drops new single

DJ Elektrique Afrique dropped a debut single titled Down on the Floor featuring vocalist Sebabatso. It’s now playing on radio stations and will hit all media platforms on November 29.

The well-travelled DJ is an electronic, house, dance and Afro-pop producer.

DJ Afrique achieved success in the UK, where his previous musical projects received airplay on BBC Radio One and have been featured on world-famous brands like N.M.E, Evening Standard, Capital Radio, MTV Europe and Melody Maker.

DJ Afrique said after 27 years of living abroad, he came back to South Africa. He said because he was inspired by the amazing talent in South Africa and artists like Prince Kaybee, Black Motion, Holly Rey and Black Coffee Down on the Floor was born.

Vocalist Sebabatso said she grew up singing at home and in her father’s church in the worship team, which she is now the leader of.

“My gift was noticed by many people. That’s when I started being invited to sing at various churches as a guest artist around Johannesburg during special events and weddings,” says Sebabatso.

Sebabatso is influenced by artists like Ntokozo Mbambo, Mahalia and internationally renowned Tasha Cobbs and says she loves gospel music. She also enjoys singing R&B and Afro-pop

The song features Brendan Peacock on guitars, who has played with ’80s pop star Leee John of the brand Imagination. Peacock also worked with many South African artists including Chris Chameleon and gospel artist Omali.
