Gospel lovers are in for a treat

Local gospel groups and artists will finally get the opportunity they have been waiting for when they get to showcase their crafts in front of a live audience.

Scheduled for December 7 and 8, this once-in-a-lifetime experience for both gospel artists and gospel music lovers, will form part of gospel sensation, Phumzile Mthethwa’s live DVD recording.

Billed at the Mehlareng Stadium, the idea behind this live DVD recording has been influenced by the likes of Joyous Celebration.

Speaking to this newspaper about this planned masterpiece, Mthethwa said they are hoping to have as many local artist as they can get.

“I am a product of Tembisa. My roots are here and whenever I have an opportunity to make a change, I will always put Tembisa first. And so, I would like to use this platform to formally invite local gospel artists to come and be part of this live DVD recording.

“I want to invite gospel groups, whether doing Amazayoni style or urban contemporary gospel, to come forward and seize this opportunity,” said Mthethwa.

She said the recording will be done in the same fashion as Joyous Celebration, allowing other artists to shine as well.

“It is actually not fair and a disgrace that there are not enough music promoters willing to host gospel festivals that would allow our local artists a spotlight in which to shine.

“It is for this reason I decided to invite and include my fellow gospel artists to be part of my live recording,” she said.

Chicco Twalla will also be present.
