Editor – I am a director at EcoMotel Pty Ltd and have been having an issue with the Kempton Park municipality for some time now, trying to find avenues to try to resolve this matter.
We have been charged for refuse collection for a 240L wheelie bin at a cost of R5 000 per month for over five years.
This cost is usually around R295 per month.
The municipality refuses to help us and I even went to the depot to speak to the person in charge. To this day, no feedback or action has been taken.
The worst part is that we have done our own refuse collection for the past 20 years and have contracted out for the collection of the hotel waste.
They have not even been to our premises during that time.
This is how small businesses are being treated despite paying rates and taxes.
We are a small hotel group and have been hit hard by the pandemic and don’t deserve to be treated this way.
