Shangri-La Academy learners excel at SA Champs

Hailey Strydom and Fabio de Klerk excelled in several events throughout the season.

The 2022 athletics season has been a riveting one for Shangri-La Academy, with the school celebrating several podium placements throughout the various competitions, as well as setting several new records.
Hailey Strydom in Grade 12 and Fabio de Klerk in Grade 11 excelled in several events, with both qualifying for the South African Championships recently held in Germiston.
During the champs, Fabio secured a fifth-place finish in javelin throw.
Hailey participated in the 100m, triple jump and long jump, securing a fourth-place finish in the long jump.
Stanton Jones, principal of the secondary school, said: “We are exceptionally proud of both Fabio and Hailey, who have not only excelled in athletics this term but have also shown true sportsmanship and camaraderie throughout the entire athletics season.
“Congratulation to all learners who participated this season, as well as the various organisers and Athletics South Africa for making these events possible.”
