CoE requests customers to report service interuptions

Significant rainfall has the potential for sporadic sewer spillages due to possible ingress of stormwater into sewer lines.

With most parts of the City of Ekurhuleni experiencing rainfall over the weekend, residents are urged to report blocked sewers for a quicker response time.
The South African Weather Service previously predicted a longer rainy season for most parts of the country.
The multi-model rainfall forecast indicated above-normal rainfall for most parts of the country throughout the mid-summer to the early-autumn season.
Rainy conditions claimed one life and left over a hundred people homeless in Ivory Park in February.
According to the spokesperson of the CoE Zweli Dlamini, significant rainfall also increases the likelihood of sporadic sewer spillages due to the possible ingress of stormwater into sewer lines.
“Reporting service interruptions such as sewer spillages to improve the response by the city. It also assists us to maintain the dignity of our people,” said Dlamini.
