Kempton Magistrate's Court sentenced man (25) to 12 years imprisonment.
Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court sentenced Lovemore Ndlovu to 12 years' imprisonment on April 2.
According to Kempton Park SAPS spokesperson, Sgt Dipuo Ditshego, Ndlovu was sentenced for armed robbery and was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
“The victim claimed that she and her colleague were walking from Rhodesfield to Kempton Park CBD when they were approached by four men. One of whom pointed a firearm at them while the others searched them and took their cellphones and bank cards before fleeing the scene. This incident occurred on July 2, 2019.
“Only a few moments after the incident, a passerby assisted the victims in locating the men and were able to apprehend one of them.
“Ndlovu was searched, and both victims' belongings were discovered. Police were called, and the suspect was taken to Kempton Park SAPS for detention,” Ditshego explained.
Acting station commander Col Percy Selematsela praised the detective's work in ensuring the conviction.
“Det Sgt Tshepo Langa's integrity, persistence, and self-driven attitude throughout the investigation ensured that Ndlovu was sentenced,” Ditshego said.
