Two suspected patrollers charged with murder

SAPS condemn mob-related incidents following death of man.

Two men appeared before the Thembisa Magistrate’s Court on April 14 following the alleged murder of a man facing unknown criminal charges.
Ivory Park SAPS spokesperson Capt Ben Matimulane said the two, allegedly serving as patrollers, were nabbed after a man was assaulted and later died in hospital as a result of his injuries.
“It is unknown which of the criminal charges the deceased was facing. More information will be revealed in court.”
Matimulane said Ivory Park SAPS detectives investigated and identified the suspects through a network of informants.
Brig David Mbongeni Ngcobo, station commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, welcomed the arrests.
“Mob-related incidents and assaults will not be tolerated, regardless of the justification. Genuine community patrollers know how to conduct themselves,” Ngcobo said.
Matimulane stated the two murder suspects were among nine people apprehended by Ivory Park SAPS detectives before the Easter weekend.
Other arrests made include malicious damage to property, assault and domestic violence.
