Ekurhuleni officials meet with community at Winnie Mandela CCC

Xolani Mnisi, media liaison of Tembisa Community Forum said, “We mentioned that Tembisa is the most paying township in Ekurhuleni and yet our services do not reflect that fact.”

The Thembisa Community Forum (TCF) held a meeting with Ekurhuleni officials on April 26 to discuss the municipal response to a memorandum from the community.
This memorandum was handed over to the MMC of Health and Social Development, Bakang Lethoko, following the community's march for better services on April 13.
Media liaison of TCF Xolani Mnisi said Shadow Shabangu from the mayor's office attended the meeting, as did Geralda Wrinkler, who is the advisor of the MMC of Health and Social Development.
“The MMC couldn’t be at the meeting due to health issues, so the team that attended the meeting came to find out more about the contents of the memorandum of grievances that we submitted at the march.”
Mnisi said that they discussed various issues regarding services, rates, taxes, and the state of parks and cemeteries around Thembisa.
“Thembisa residents pay for services and yet our services do not reflect that. We also demanded that Thembisans be a priority about local employment as most public servants in our township are not Thembisa-born.”
Mnisi said that Shabangu acknowledged their concerns and requested a follow-up meeting with TCF.
“Shabangu will then return with the heads of all relevant departments so that they can interrogate issues and have them explain some of the factors that need clarification.
“The meeting date and venue are yet to be confirmed, however, a full delegation from the municipality will be present on the day,” said Mnisi.
