Pre-school hits twice by burglars
Thusanang Creche calls for assistance from community after recent break-in
Thusanang Pre-School is calling on the community of Ebony Park for assistance after a recent break-in at the pre-school on May 9.
According to Ivory Park spokesperson Capt Ben Matimulane, this wasn’t the first incident that was reported as the pre-school had a burglary on May 2.
“The police are aware of the incidents but there hasn’t been any case opened that is related to this recent break-in,” said Matimulane.
Josephine Molome, the owner of the pre-school, said the burglars gained entry through a window and were able to avoid security sensors.
“We have security in the building but the suspects came in through the window on the other side of the building, which had no sensors.
“We are getting more sensors to cover the whole building, especially after the first burglary but we didn’t anticipate the second incident,” she added.
The pre-school owner believes the school was targeted due to its computers.
“We received computers from the South African Social Security Agency and that is why we were hit twice in such a short period of time.”
Matimulane said one computer, toys and a first aid kit were taken.
Molome said the culprits also took blankets and sanitizers.
“No suspects have been arrested yet and the police urge anyone with information to come forward,” said Matimulane.
