Two suspects sentenced to life in prison

“The victim knew her attackers and that was their downfall. Eric Ncube and Derrick Ndlovu were sentenced this month at the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court to life imprisonment for rape,” said Capt. Ben Matimulane, Ivory SAPS spokesperson.

Two suspects who had entered the country illegally have been sentenced for raping a woman on May 13.
According to Ivory Park’s SAPS spokesperson, Capt Ben Matimulane, the men forcefully entered the victim's home while she was sleeping.
The men were arrested after robbing and raping her in her home. With the help of the victim, the Ekurhuleni District Trio Task Team was able to trace the men and subsequently arrested them. The two have been in custody ever since.

Matimulane said each one also received an additional 12 months for being in the country illegally.
The station commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, has welcomed a life term in prison for the two men.
“They earned this lengthy sentence as a result of the terror they inflicted on the victim.
“We salute Sergeant Andile Mbovane for the excellent investigation that ensured that the two are permanently withdrawn from our community,” said Ngcobo.
