Unlicensed firearm lands man in police custody

An Ivory Park suspect located in Extension Two was arrested on May 9 for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
According to Ivory Park SAPS spokesperson, Capt Ben Matimulane, acting on a tip-off, the members of the Ivory Park SAPS Crime Prevention Team proceeded to the address where the suspect was.
“They introduced themselves and explained the reasons for their visit before searching the place for the alleged firearm.”
Matimulane said that the pistol of which the serial number had been filed off was found as well as ammunition.
“The suspect was arrested and taken to the Ivory Park police cells for detention pending his appearance in court for charges of illegal possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.”
