Norkem Park SAPS brings actor to justice in murder case
The Norkem Park SAPS secured a conviction against Gregory Pettigrew, who was found guilty of murdering Dino Ackerman and multiple firearm-related offences.
The Norkem Park SAPS achieved a victory with the sentencing of actor Gregory Pettigrew, who was found guilty of murdering Dino Ackerman.
The incident occurred on April 13, 2023, at a residence in Norkem Park, where Ackerman was discovered with two gunshot wounds to the head.
Investigations by Detective Warrant Officer Van Wyk linked Pettigrew to the crime.

The Norkem Park SAPS communication officer, Sergeant Portia Mkhondo, confirmed that the accused was convicted on multiple charges, including murder, theft of a firearm, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and possession of a firearm to commit a crime.
On October 28, the Johannesburg High Court handed down these sentences:
• Count 1: Murder – life imprisonment;
• Count 2: Firearm-related charges – 10 years imprisonment (to run concurrently).
Station commander Colonel Nelly Maunatlala commended Van Wyk for his dedication and professionalism, highlighting that his investigative work reflected the SAPS’s commitment to bringing offenders to justice and ensuring community safety.
