Watch: Red Bull F1 car roars to SA anthem
It’s 'Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika' like you've never heard it before – where the roar of an F1 engine hits the high notes.
Over the years, several renditions of the South African anthem Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika have warmed the hearts of citizens.
Think of Keabetswe ‘KB’ Motsilanyane’s powerful performance during the Test match between South Africa and Ireland at Loftus Versfeld in July, or the Stellenbosch University Choir’s moving version a few years ago.
The anthem, which shares similarities with the Zambian national anthem‘s tune, remains truly remarkable – and now there’s a unique version powered by a Red Bull F1 car (RB7).
The Red Bull Showrun took centre stage in Sandton over the weekend, where retired British racing driver David Coulthard and the Oracle Red Bull Racing Team showcased the power of the RB7.
During the event, the car’s engine was revved to deliver a fresh rendition of the anthem.
